BHI’s story begins, like so many stories do, with a simple vision and big aspirations.
Brian Hurt Industrial Supplies was established in the South Yorkshire area to deal with increasing demand for workwear, protective equipment, clothing and uniforms from local heavy industry. This was a time when taking precautions for staff was essentially asking workers to tie boot laces and pull their trousers up. We had humble beginnings and literally operated out of a converted retail unit with just a desk, an old rotary phone, paper pads and a temperamental bar heater – you can imagine it better if you think in black & white.
Over the years Brian built up a respectable reputation and order book however it wasn’t until he decided to retire and hand over the reins to the next generation that BHI began to develop into to the business you see today. New innovations, technological implementation and agile positioning ahead of trends and changes to working conditions were several of the key developmental changes we undertook to secure our place as one of key providers to several blue-chip companies within the UK.
However regardless of the new tech, bells and whistles the very essence of BHI was and will always be building relationships with our clients, providing the level of service which goes above and beyond the typical “industry standard” in the workwear and PPE field.
As we look to the next developments and innovations in an ever-changing market, we will endeavour to position ourselves at the forefront of our clients “pain points” with opportunities and solutions to their respective situations. These pain points can often lead to new concepts which can then benefit other clients who may have or will have similar challenges. This chapter is yet to be written and it’s one that may yet yield some major enhancements, we would like to invite you to work with us and build for a brighter future.
